Hard one.... If you start taking them off you can sometimes have problems with screws snapping or the brackets being damaged. I'd personally say get into it with a sash brush rather than leaving it Mike

My paint brush stock it online. Feed back I've had is it's pretty.tacky but leaves no residue or paint pull. They do a few types, so worth a look.
